The room of the twins Mizuno and Marino You is covered with posters of Aqua Timez, band that has their single, GRAVITY Ø, as opening song of Star Driver Kagayaki no Takuto.

Gunbuster

In the beginning of the last year I wrote about Gunbuster, but upon re-watching it I ended up noticing a few more interesting posters in this original video animation (OVA). The first three images are just reposts from the old blog entry.

noriko's room 1
My Neighbor Totoro and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind posters in Noriko’s room. Noriko Hikada, voice of Noriko Takaya (main character of Gunbuster), was the voice of Satsuki Kusakabe, the older sister in My Neighbor Totoro. The director Hideaki Anno had previously worked on the Nausicaa movie.

Space Battleship Yamato poster in her room.

Van Halen poster on the top of her room.

Lucky Star + Saw

Comedy filled with parodies, Lucky Star quickly displays the billboard of the famous horror series Saw, film some of the girls are about to watch (for the despair of Tsukasa). Not exactly a poster… but sort of related.

Star Driver and Kuragehime Logos

leave a comment »

Two more logos from the fall season. Below is the logo of Star Driver Kagayaki no Takuto (STAR DRIVER 輝きのタクト) which has a great balance due to the positioning/sizing of the letters. I like the subtle underline that cuts the letter D. Together with the blue background, it transmits the idea of water which is important since the setting of the story is an island where some of the main characters aren’t allowed to leave.

The next one is from Kuragehime (海月姫 〜くらげひめ〜). Another logo that efficiently captures the essence of the story. The male protagonist is a cross-dressing university student from a distinguished family who ends up becoming a friend of a female NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) who is passionate about jellyfishes. The vibrant colors and the round forms that directly resemble the jellyfish contour on the right are very neat.
